Color

Analysis of colors:
*Green, one of the most popular colors in home decorating right now, is associated with life, newness, the forest, photosynthesis (the act of turning light into life). It's THE color of nature. It can make you feel as if you are in a tranquil garden.
*Blue is the predominant color of the earth. We're surrounded by oceans and sky. Blue is associated with oceans, lakes, and streams. It evokes feelings of a beautiful tropical beach, with azure seas and skies.
*Purple is the color of royalty. It brings to mind kings and queens and ancient civilizations, surrounded by riches. It can also make us think of clairvoyants, palm readers, and other mystics.
*Orange is warm and cheerful. We think of tropical fruit, terra cotta tiles, vibrant flowers, and sunsets. Orange is the color of fall, and therefore, relates to the life cycle. The color of clay, it also brings to mind thoughts of primitive civilizations.
*White can make us think of the heavens. Clouds are white, floating around up there in the beautiful blue skies. Or, there's snow, pure and innocent and fresh. White is clean.
*Red represents the most powerful emotions: love, hate, flames, blood, fire, heat! It stands for ego and passion. When you decorate with red, a little goes a long way, and it's always noticed.
*Black is night, deep waters, and formal occasions. It is associated with fear, the unknown, and a black hole. But it is solid and orderly. It provides a nice contrast to bright colors.
*Yellow is associated with higher powers of ancient times, i.e., Sun Gods! Ancient civilizations worshipped the sun. Well, not much has changed there! We all love a sunny day.
*Pink is the color of romance. It can make us feel young, gentle, and calm. It's often associated with femininity, love, and of course valentines.
*Gold, of course, brings to mind wealth and luxury. It represents our highest achievements: the gold medal, the gold standard, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
*Turquoise brings to mind the southwest. It's colorful and invigorating. Compared to other blues and greens, it is exciting and provocative.
*Beige is the ultimate neutral. It can balance all other colors. It allows them to show off, yet brings them home. It's the color of the desert, and brings a sense of nature into our lives.
*Brown is Mother Earth. It is security and protection and safety. It s also chocolate! And espresso and latte! Yes, it helps us get through the storms of life, and makes us feel secure and protected! from: peggy e johnson, design consultant
